The four litter types at a glance
- Tofu litter: clumps well, small amounts can be flushed, low dust; absorbs moisture easily and costs more per unit.
- Mineral litter: the firmest clumps, the most natural feel underfoot, the cheapest per kilogram; dusty and cannot be flushed.
- Crystal litter: the strongest odour control and the lowest changing frequency; does not clump and the granules are harder.
- Paper litter: the softest and lightest, almost dust-free; clumps weakly and costs the most per unit, so it suits senior cats or post-surgery use.
