Striking point-coloured coat and blue eyes; lively, talkative and deeply attached to people.

Ragdoll
Blue-eyed semi-longhair with a famously relaxed, floppy temperament — one of the most popular companion cats.

British Shorthair
Round face and dense short coat; sturdy, easy-going and independent — well suited to flat living.

Munchkin
Short-legged cat with a playful, energetic personality; short legs do not slow down its running and jumping.

Persian
Long coat and flat face; calm and gentle — one of the oldest cat breeds.

Russian Blue
Silvery-blue short coat and green eyes; reserved with strangers but intensely loyal to its owner.

Bengal
Wild-looking rosette coat and high energy; needs plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.

Scottish Fold
Signature folded ears; gentle, quiet and happiest in human company.

Domestic Cat
Hong Kong's most common cat — mixed-breed, adaptable and the first choice for adoption.

Calico
White, orange and black tri-colour coat; almost always female, with an independent personality.

Sphynx
Canadian hairless breed with a distinctive look, extremely affectionate and a higher body temperature than most cats.

American Shorthair
Sturdy, easy-going and friendly — one of the most popular family cats.

Oriental Shorthair
Slim, athletic and endlessly curious; closely related to the Siamese.

Abyssinian
Distinctive ticked tabby coat; active, playful and an enthusiastic climber.

Hong Kong Tong Gau (Mixed Breed)
Hong Kong's native mixed-breed dog: short yellow-brown coat, upright ears and a curled tail — loyal, alert, hardy and a great adopt-don't-shop choice.

Doberman Pinscher
Large German guard breed: black with tan markings, athletic, loyal and intelligent — best for experienced owners.

Beagle
Medium-sized British scent hound: friendly and playful but stubborn, food-driven and loud — exercise, weight control and ear cleaning are the priorities.

Rottweiler
Large German working breed: adults typically 35–60 kg, calm but with a strong guarding instinct; needs 1–2 hours of exercise daily and long-term joint and heart care.

Dachshund
Small German breed: standard 7–14 kg, miniature 4–5 kg. Protecting the long spine is the core of care — no jumping on sofas or beds, no stairs, and strict weight control.

Maltese
Small white long-haired breed from the Mediterranean: about 2–4 kg, suited to small flats but highly people-oriented and prone to separation anxiety; watch tear staining, the trachea and the knees.
Small animals, birds & reptiles4

Budgerigar
One of Hong Kong's most common pet birds (Budgerigar): small but highly social and active, needing a wide cage for flight, a formulated diet and daily interaction.

Corn Snake
Harmless ground-dwelling snake from the south-eastern United States, typically 1.2–1.5 m as an adult and fed on thawed rodents; relatively beginner-friendly, but the enclosure must offer a temperature gradient.

Rabbit
A common Hong Kong pet (including lop breeds): unlimited hay, a cool well-ventilated space, and any gut slowdown is an emergency. Rabbits tolerate cold better than heat, and a pen beats a cage.

Hedgehog
Most pet hedgehogs in Hong Kong are four-toed hedgehogs: nocturnal, solitary and prone to rolling into a spiky ball when startled. Temperature, not diet, is the first husbandry hurdle.
