What is a "dog-friendly restaurant"?
Simply put: a licensed eatery that has applied to the FEHD for permission to admit dogs, with official approval for customers to bring their dogs in to eat. After the government relaxed the policy in July 2026, the list grew from an initial 833 to 993 today — nearly 200 more in three months, so eating out with your dog really is getting easier.
Note that this is the official FEHD list, not something restaurants decide for themselves. Check this page to see whether a restaurant is on it.

Basic etiquette for bringing a dog to a restaurant
Official approval is one thing; being a welcome dog owner is another:
- Leash or pet carrier — don't let your dog roam; other diners may be afraid of dogs
- Not on the table — the dog sits on the floor or in its own carrier, not on the table or a dining chair
- Clean up immediately — bring clean-up bags and deal with any mess at once
- Avoid busy hours — for a first visit, choose a weekday afternoon so the dog can adjust
- Bring your own dog water bowl — some restaurants provide one, but bringing your own is safest
- Call before you go — the list is updated, so confirming with the restaurant just before you set off is safest
