Pet vaccination and deworming schedule generator

The first year is the busiest for a kitten or puppy: the primary course, the rabies vaccine (essential for a dog licence) and monthly deworming are easy to lose track of. Enter your pet's date of birth and the tool lays out all the reminder dates at once — from the first dose at about 8 weeks to the booster at about 1 year, plus the coming year of deworming reminders. It reads clearly and downloads to your phone calendar in one click. Everything is calculated in your browser: no sign-up and nothing uploaded.

For reminders only, not veterinary advice: This schedule is for reminders only: the actual timing, number of doses and deworming plan must always follow your vet's advice, and the dates must not be changed on your own.The dates in this table are approximate figures based on usual practice; every animal is different (maternal antibodies, health status, local law).

Choose a species and enter the date of birth to generate the schedule straight away (for example the 8, 12 and 16 week primary doses and monthly deworming).

Important: this table is for reminders only — always follow your vet

Every date in this schedule is an approximate figure worked out from usual practice and is not a veterinary instruction, so never change or delay a vaccination date on your own. Maternal antibody levels, your pet's health at the time, the vaccine brand and local legislation all affect the number and timing of doses; if anything needs adjusting, ask your vet first. A health check before vaccination is advisable for kittens and puppies, and a period of observation at the clinic afterwards.

Where the figures come from (usual practice in Hong Kong)

  • Primary core vaccines: the first dose at about 6-8 weeks of age, then one dose every 3-4 weeks until the primary course is complete at about 16 weeks (the tool defaults to three doses at 8, 12 and 16 weeks). The actual number and timing follow your vet's plan.
  • First booster at about 1 year: about a year after the primary course is complete; core vaccines are then usually boosted every 1-3 years, depending on your vet's assessment and the vaccine brand.
  • Rabies vaccine (dogs): under Hong Kong law a dog can be vaccinated from 3 months of age and must be licensed before 5 months old (a licence requires the rabies vaccination); the dog licence runs for 3 years and renewal requires revaccination. The tool therefore schedules a dose at about 16 weeks and a renewal booster at about 3 years.
  • Rabies vaccine (cats): Hong Kong does not require cats to be vaccinated. If your cat goes outside, travels or relocates, discuss it with your vet first.
  • Deworming: usually once every 30 days from about 6 weeks of age (internal and external). For young animals your vet may advise a shorter interval (for example every 2 weeks); which product and how often always follow your vet's advice (this tool does not show product names or doses).

How to use it

  3. Change "plan ahead" as needed (6, 12 or 24 months) to see which item comes first.
  4. Press "Download .ics for my calendar" and the reminders arrive in your phone calendar.
  5. When you take the card to the clinic, check the outstanding items on the list with your vet.
